Mine site reclamation policy for the Northwest Territories : a policy for the protection of the environment and the disposition of liability relating to mine closures in the Northwest Territories : R2-208/2002-2E-PDF

Indian and Northern Affairs Canada developed this policy on mine site reclamation for Northwest Territories after consultations with Aboriginal organizations, industry, stakeholders, Northern boards and territorial governments. The aim of the policy is to ensure the protection of the environment from the effects of mine closures and abandoned mines, giving clear standards for industry. This policy will help establish a strong resource management base in the North. Having such policies in the North serves industry and investors, as well as environmental interests and communities.
