5203 |aMethylmercury adversely affects nervous and reproductive systems. Sources of methylmercury in the environment are both natural and industrial. It is a byproduct, for example, of gold mining. This document presents background on and the rationale for the Canadian Tissue Residue Guidelines for this contaminant. To protect Canadian wildlife, the reference concentration (RC) for Wilson's storm petrel is 0.033 milligrams per kilogram of aquatic biotic, on a wet-weight basis. Comparable RCs are given for other local species
