This report is part of an initiative to improve understanding of the determinants of health. It measures the state of development of Vancouver’s children; the resources available to them and their families; and the opportunities and constraints young children face growing up in different neighbourhoods. The report examines differences in children’s school readiness; socio-economic characteristics; neighbourhood climate; early health risks, detection, and intervention; childcare, literary and parenting programs; and school success.
