Size-at-age and condition of cod in divisions 2J+3KL during 1978-1997 / by G.R. Lilly.: Fs70-1/1998-76E-PDF
The size-at-age & condition of cod in the offshore of southern Labrador & eastern Newfoundland were monitored by sampling catches during research bottom-trawl surveys in the autumns of 1978 to 1997. This paper documents changes in those biological parameters and the sample sizes available for calculation of growth & condition, updates the time series of both size-at-age & condition, and describes the method used to obtain approximate January 1 weights-at-age by interpolation from commercial weights-at-age. Attention is drawn to several aspects of the commercial weight-at-age matrix, and the beginning of the year weights-at-age are updated for inclusion in the 1998 cod stock assessment.
