520 |a"The Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, the Honourable René Tremblay, declared the meeting officially open at 9.50 a.m. He said that this was both an historic and auspicious occasion in the annals of Indian affairs administration in Canada. The Federal Government sincerely appreciated the cooperation shown by the Provincial Governments in bringing a Federal-Provincial Conference on Indian affairs into reality and Mr. Tremblay extended a warm welcome to the provincial delegates. He said that he regretted that a meeting could not be held earlier as originally planned but thought the postponement of the Conference had certain beneficial aspects which should help discussion."--p. 1.
