520 |a"In this report I relate the findings of a research project the field work for which was carried out during the summers of 1959 and 1960, in the Baker Lake region of the Keewatin District of the Northwest Territories. My interest was primarily in the social and economic changes which have been occurring in recent years. I have attempted also to indicate the likely directions of change in the near future. Thus, this report is not ethnography in the classical sense: it does not purport to give an exhaustive account of a primitive people. Rather it is a panoramic view of a human situation as observed in 1959 and 1960."--Introduction.
