520 |a"The Queen Charlotte Basin is one of Canada's hydrocarbon exploration frontiers. In 1987, the Geological Survey of Canada began a multidisciplinary basin analysis project for the basin under the auspices of the Frontier Geoscience Program (FGP). The purpose of this Frontier Geoscience Program is to provide policy makers and the Canadian public with the best possible assessment of hydrocarbon potential in the Basin. The FGP mandate specifies four primary areas of scientific investigation: 1) deep crustal structure; 2) internal basin geology, 3) source rock potential and thermal evolution, and 4) hazards to development"--Intro., p. 1.
