"This paper develops a method to derive sub-annual (monthly or quarterly) time series from the following clues: 1) annual base years available every 10 years (for instance) 2) annual benchmarks to which the desired sub-annual values must sum and 3) sub-annual growth rates chosen by the subject matter experts and which control the behaviour of the series. The estimates obtained start with the initial base year values, satisfy the annual benchmarks and lead to the newly available terminal base year values. Several variants of this projection and benchmarking problem are examined"--Abstract.
