5203 |a"This paper presents a brief description of the application of ore microscopy to mineral beneficiation. The microscopic examination generally serves to identify the minerals, to gain some idea of their composition, and to enable the textural relationships to the elucidated. In some cases, microscopic study is augmented by X-ray diffraction, and by chemical, spectrographic or electron-microprobe analyses. In other cases, a statistical treatment based on grain counting of mill products provides useful information on the efficacy of beneficiation procedures"--p. 63.
