5203 |a"When the scintillation counter is used to detect the K radiation of elements of atomic number 57 and greater, the escape peak may play an important role in the establishment of the parameters to be used for the measurement of X-ray intensity. Double plateaus are found and pulse amplitude curves become complex, especially for second and third order radiation. A shift in pulse amplitude with counting rate has been found for a scintillation counter using XP1010 photomultiplier tubes. This shift makes the choice of a threshold for the pulse height analyzer critical"--Abstract, p. 119.
