Bell 206B Jet Ranger-III (registration C-GOPK, serial number 3247) was conducting infrared scanning over a logged area about 112 nautical miles northwest of Prince George, British Columbia, when the helicopter spun uncommanded to the right several times and descended to the ground. The helicopter was destroyed on impact, and all 3 persons on board were seriously injured. There was no post-impact fire. The 406-megahertz emergency locator transmitter activated.
