“This booklet of Instructions and Definitions is to be used as a guide by hospitals in completing the Annual Return of Hospitals, Part II - Financial (Form HS-2). A separate booklet has been prepared for the Part I - Facilities and Services (Form HS-1). The annual returns (Form HS-1, Facilities and Services, and Form HS-2, Financial), will provide basic information of value to hospitals and the provincial governments. They will also serve the specific purposes of the two national agencies, Statistics Canada and the Department of National Health and Welfare. The Financial Return (Form HS-2) is designed to ensure hospital financial statistics of maximum value”--P. [2, 5].
