"According to the Great Lakes International Surveillance Programme designed by the International Joint Commission, 1981 and 1982 are scheduled as intensive years for Lake Ontario. Since 1968 annual cruises have been conducted on Lake Ontario by the federal Department of the Environment's research centre, the Canada Centre for Inland Waters, to measure a variety of physical, chemical and biological parameters. The present report identifies the station locations, sampling frequency and parameter lists for the large lake cruises conducted between 1968 and 1980 in support of the Surveillance Programme. Whole lake 1 m volume weighted values for temperature, dissolved oxygen, specific conductance, total phosphorus, soluble reactive phosphorus, nitrate plus nitrite, ammonia, soluble reactive silica, and corrected chlorophyll a are given by cruise for the years 1968 to 1980"--Abstract, p. vii.
