"Bill C-74, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 27, 2018 and other measures (short title: “Budget Implementation Act, 2018, No. 1”), was introduced and read for the first time in the House of Commons on 27 March 2018. As its short and long titles suggest, the purpose of the bill is to implement the government's overall budget policy, introduced in the House of Commons on 27 February 2018. Bill C-74 is the first budget implementation bill of 2018. Consistent with established legislative practice, a second such bill may follow in the fall. This document provides a brief description of the main measures proposed in the bill by summarizing the substance of each part. For ease of reference, the information is presented in the same order as it appears in the summary of the bill"--Background, p. 1.
