A and B Levels

The Programme de français langue seconde – Niveaux A et B (PFL2 – A et B) is designed to attain the A and B levels of bilingualism in the federal government. It will help you to achieve sufficient communicative competence to interact efficiently in French in day-to-day job-related tasks.

The program takes a communicative, task-oriented approach to learning a second language. It covers the main elements of language and communication including:

  • Language functions
  • Listening
  • Vocabulary
  • Grammar
  • Phonology
  • Communication strategies
  • Writing

The materials and components of the Programme de français langue seconde – Niveaux A et B (PFL2 – A et B) are described in the manual Présentation des composantes.

The Guide pédagogique of the Programme de français langue seconde – Niveaux A et B (PFL2 – A et B) takes the form of a manual.

PFL2 – A et B consists of 40 training objectives formulated in terms of communicative performances. The activities are generally designed to be done in the classroom. Some of them include a correction key; they may be done in self-directed learning.

The program includes a lexicon of more than 3 000 entries and explanation charts for study points.

Consolidations – Programme de français langue seconde (Niveaux A et B)

Consolidations are a set of activities designed for review of the training objectivesand study points in the Programme de français langue seconde – Niveaux A et B.

Auto-évaluation – Activités écrites – Programme de français langue seconde (Niveaux A et B)

Auto-évaluation – Activités écrites will allow you to review and evaluate your mastery of certain study points in the Programme de français langue seconde – Niveaux A et B(PFL2 – A et B). The answer key for each activity provides explanations to help understand each correct answer, reviewing and reinforcing what you have learned. For certain questions, more than one answer is possible.

Level C

Sessions préparatoires 1 et 2 are classroom review periods each lasting two weeks. They enable learners to consolidate Level B language skills: language functions, grammar, vocabulary and oral comprehension.

  • describing present, future or past situations;
  • describing tasks and processes;
  • requesting or expressing an opinion.

Programme de français langue seconde (Niveau C)

The Programme de français langue seconde – Niveau C (PFL2 – C) is for advanced users who already have a sufficient understanding of the A and B Levels. It involves the acquisition of skills and the achievement of language performance in order to achieve the objectives of level C competence.

The course consists of four modules divided into themes:

Beginner and intermediate level

Interface Canada will enable you to achieve sufficient competence to communicate effectively in English at levels A and B.
