Crested wheat grass / L.E. Kirk, T.M. Stevenson, and S.E. Clarke. : A12-8/44-1937E-PDF
"Crested wheat grass is a native of the steppe region or prairie plains of Russia and Western Siberia. Growing on those cold, dry, wind-swept plains it has developed a tolerance of drought and of extremes of temperature that makes it well adapted to the climatic conditions of Western Canada. ... In recent years a large number of samples of seed have been distributed throughout Western Canada in order that this grass might be tested under a wide range of soil types and climatic conditions."--p. 5.
