"Although the forests of southern Ontario are subject to a wide array of natural stressors (i.e. soil moisture deficiency, extreme weather events, insects, and diseases) and human stressors including fragmentation, historic timber and fuelwood extraction, high loadings of ground-level ozone and in some cases exceedence of acid deposition targets, overall, they continue to exhibit a high degree of resilience. Our assessment concurs with other research indicating that forests in southern Ontario are generally healthy"--Executive Summary.
