This classification was devised to make possible the arranging of the collected data in a form readily available for the orderly placing of workers with required types of experience, skill, or training in industries vital to the prosecution of the war. This present classification of occupations is substantially an adaptation of the 1931 Census Classification of Occupations to the more detailed requirements of the National Registration.
