British Columbia supports only about 2,500 winter residents which are largely restricted to the Fraser River Delta(FRD) and the Queen Charlotte Islands (QCI) (Campbell et al. 1990). These areas, in addition to the east coast of Vancouver Island (ECVI), support much larger numbers of Brant each spring, as up to 25% of all Pacific Flyway Brant stage in the Strait of Georgia(SoG) during their northern migration. ... The Canadian Wildlife Service (CWS) and partner agencies have undertaken a number of monitoring and research activities to better understand Brant population dynamics and habitat use in B.C.
