An analysis of the commercial catch rates revealed that the abundance indices from the purse seiner fishery have slightly increased after 1979-1980, at which point they had reached a historical low. However, the catch rates from the inshore fishery are relatively stable, with some indices showing a slight increase from 1980 to 1981, and others a slight decrease.
