520 |a"In the nineteen years from the end of 1946 to the end of 1965, the book value of foreign direct investment in Canada increased more than sixfold, from $2,826 million to $17,208 million. As a proportion of all private long-term investment in Canada it was 58.3 per cent at the end of 1965, compared with 39.4 per cent at the end of 1946. In the period from 1946 to 1964, controlling or affiliated interests brought in a total of $6,971 million for direct investment; undistributed earnings increased by $5,215 million; and other factors including new issues, retirements, borrowing, revaluations and reclassifications increased by $990 million.
