5203 |a"A multidisciplinary study is investigating toxic chemicals that are leached from new and used tires. This report documents the current work carried out using GC/AED which was initiated to support GC/MS identification of the non-target compounds in the tire leachates. Using the response derived from standards, it was possible to estimate the partial empirical formula for a number of the leached compounds. These estimates were then verified by independently calculating the concentration from the S, C, N, and O responses of the unknowns. The dependency of the hydrogen content of the molecules on the calculated concentration values is discussed"--Abstract.
