Abstract This publication presents information on youth crime, from the commission of the crime through to sentencing of the young offender. It includes information on rates of crime; characteristics of young offenders and their victims; the use of alternative measures; youth court cases; youth corrections; and repeat offenders. There is also a discussion of various factors that may influence the level of youth crime (e.g. socio-economic status, level of education, family history, etc.). The report attempts to answer some of the main questions related to youth crime.
