Guidelines for compost quality : En108-4/25-2005E-PDF
These revised guidelines apply to compost that is sold, given away, or used on-site, but not to compost-based products such as potting soil mixes. The guidelines are based on four criteria: concentrations of trace elements such as arsenic, copper, and lead; concentrations of foreign matter; the presence of pathogens; and the maturity/stability of the compost. The guidelines are intended to provide national consistency in compost standards, and come into effect only if adopted by the regulatory authority.
