"The objective of this document is to provide a concise weight-of-evidence review of health outcomes associated with exposure to wildfire smoke. Specifically, the goal is to characterize the strength of the evidence for individual health endpoints rather than quantifying the risk level of each outcome. The approach consisted of a review of published systematic reviews, including meta-analyses, of primary studies examining the association between exposure to wildfire smoke and mortality and morbidity outcomes. The primary studies captured in the reviews were conducted in North America, South America, Australia, Europe and Asia. Systematic reviews provide a robust synthesis of available scientific evidence, and are leveraged here to provide a rapid evidence synthesis. …"--Introduction, page 1.
