Domestic substances list: registry number index : Extract [from] Canada gazette, part I, January 26, 1991: En40-397/1991
Extract from "Canada Gazette, Part 1, January 26, 1991". The "Domestic Substances List" (DSL) identifies substances, for the purposes of the CEPA (Canadian Environmental Protection Act), which are not subject to the New Substances Notification Regulations. The DSL defines existing substances for the purposes of the Act and is the sole basis for determining whether a substance is "existing" or "new" to Canada. Because toxicity is not a criterion for inclusion on the List, the DSL should not be viewed as a listing of toxic substances.
