Work absence rates, 1991 to 2001: CS71-535/11

This publication provides up-to-date benchmark data on work absences for personal reasons - by illness or disability and for personal or family responsibilities. It is based on data from the Labour Force Survey and uses the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) and North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS). Absence rates for 2001 are provided by sex, education, age, presence of children, detailed industries and occupations, firm size, job tenure, job permanency, unionization, provinces and census metropolitan areas (CMAs). Time series from 1991 to 1997 (including maternity leave) and from 1997 to 2001 (excluding maternity leave) are also provided.
