The National Standards of Canada set out norms in a wide range of subjects. Approved by the Standards Council of Canada—the coordinating body of the National Standards System—National Standards are developed by standards committees composed of representatives of relevant interests, including manufacturers and producers, consumers and other users, retailers, governments, educational institutions, technical, professional and trade societies, and research and testing organizations. They cover details such as components, preparation for delivery, testing, and marking.
