This two-volume Standing Committee report presents a study of Canada’s media industries. It focuses on how federal public policy can encourage and sustain healthy, independent Canadian news organizations. Volume 1 covers news media ownership, and includes recommendations on policies that serve the public interest, the news media, and matters outside federal jurisdiction. Volume 2 includes appendices that expand on points raised in Volume 1, as well as testimony from public hearings and reference material.
