Interest in low-head (less than 15 m) mini (less than 2.0 kw) hydro-electrical power generation, operating without storage, has increased with the design of small efficient hydro-powered generators and the availability of development agreements among government, manufacturers and utilities. Part of the impetus for these agreements is to foster the development of hydro power which is perceived to have less impact on migratory fish production than traditional high-head hydro power.--Introduction
