520 | 3 |aAs part of a surface current study, satellite-tracked surface drifters were deployed in eastern Canadian waters to collect surface current data. The purpose of the study is to use drifter data to calibrate and validate surface trajectories calculated from an ocean forecast model, Canadian East Coast Ocean Model, CECOM (Tang et al., 2007, 2008). The model data have been made available to users including Canadian Coast Guard for use in CANSARP (Canadian Search and Recur Planning), which is a planning tool for search and rescue operations. |
