Cover image

This classification system is used for organizing economic data by industry, and is used by Canada, Mexico and the United States. NAICS 2002 supersedes NAICS 1997, and NAICS 1997 supersedes the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) 1980. The classification is revised on a five-year revision cycle in order to ensure that the classification continues to reflect the rapidly changing structure of the economy. NAICS 2002 groups economic activity into 20 sectors and 928 Canadian industries.
