This paper reports the results of studies of 50 Quebec pulp and paper mills that discharge effluents into marine environments, estuaries, lakes, and rivers. As part of the Environmental Effects Monitoring program, it reviews several parameters to determine the extent of the effluents’ effects on both the water they enter and the species living there. It includes sublethal toxicity tests, a benthic community survey, and other monitoring information.
