National overview – National Pollutant Release Inventory, 2002 : off-site transfers for recycling and energy recovery : En49-16/5-2002E
The National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) is a legislated inventory of pollutants released into the environment. In 2002, owners of 1012 facilities submitted reports on pollutants they transferred off-site for recycling and energy recovery; 1 235 000 tonnes of pollutants were transferred in total. This report details the types of recycling and energy recovery; the pollutants transferred in the largest quantities; and the industrial sectors transferring the largest quantities of pollutants.
