This book presents essays on Canadian operational art, the skill of translating strategic direction into operational and tactical action. It outlines the historical context out of which the art has evolved, and considers the complex theories behind the art developed by Canadian senior officials. Topics covered include levels of war; military concepts and tactics; and the future direction of the Canadian operational art. Concluding remarks synthesize the key issues raised in the essays. Its purpose is to promote discussion on what Canadian operational art should look like.
