The purpose of this paper is to support Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal researchers working in an Aboriginal context and to encourage them to adopt a holistic approach to Aboriginal policy research. It discusses the nature of knowledge, Aboriginal women’s historical and political background, the challenges of a holistic approach to Aboriginal policy research, and research methods.
