Coding variations in the Discharge Abstract Database (DAD) data : FY 1996-1997 to 2000-2001: H118-10/2003E-PDF

This report presents the results of a broader analysis of DAD data as a result of questions raised in research conducted into acute patient care discharge abstract data in Ontario. It sets out baseline comparisons using 1996-1997, then examines changes up to 2001. Subsequent sections focus on the situation in Ontario, sensitivity to changes in complexity methodology, the results of the analysis, and the lessons learned from it. A final section looks at monitoring and reporting variation in the DAD.
