5203 |aThe Glossary was developed because incompatible terms and/or a lack of awareness of differences between Canadian, American, and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) definitions could result in pilot/controller/flight information specialist misunderstandings, particularly during international operations. Its purpose is to achieve commonality, to the extent possible, with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Pilot/Controller Glossary and ICAO definitions or terms. Where definitions or terms in the Canadian Glossary differ from those of ICAO and the FAA, the equivalent ICAO and/or FAA definitions and terms are included.
