Yukon Northern Affairs Program Devolution Transfer AgreementR2-184/2001E-PDF

This devolution transfer agreement of October 29, 2001 sets out the terms and conditions for the transfer to the Government of the Yukon of responsibility for several areas previously under federal jurisdiction. These areas include the authority to make laws and regulations with respect to public land and waters, the power to negotiate First Nations settlement and self-government agreements, the management of forest resources and responsibility for various environmental matters. The agreement provides for an orderly process for the transfer of finances, human resources and properties, assets and contracts.
