The objective of this document is to provide a current overview of energy statistics in Canada. It introduces the first Statistical Framework for Energy in Canada and functions as a guide that will help facilitate the strategic plan outlined for addressing priority elements in Canadian energy statistics. The Statistical Framework for Energy in Canada encompasses three components: 1) energy supply and demand information comprising of volumetric data on energy production, distribution and consumption; 2) economic information and accounts as it relates to the energy sector and its sub-industries; and 3) environmental statistics and accounts which measure the effects of energy on the environment.
