| 520 | |aThe Halifax Class frigates are currently undergoing a midlife modernization as part of the FELEX program. An existing data set for standardization and manoeuvring/controllability for the HALIFAX Class frigates is from a trial in 1991 on HMCS HALIFAX when the ships were newly built. The ships now operate at a deeper displacement and have undergone a number of appendage changes. In order to update manoeuvring data for the post-refit ships a sea trial was conducted on HMCS CALGARY in September 2013. This report presents a summary description of this standardization and manoeuvring/controllability sea trial. Instrumentation, conditions, and data processing are discussed. The analysis and results from the trial are given in separate reports. |
