Technical overviews are presented and details on the parameters that are used in the GIQE are discussed to provide a general picture on how the GIQE models image quality in term of NIIRS (National Image Interpretability Rating Scale0. NIIRS-rated measured image data from the Global Hawk unmanned aerial vehicle’s visible and infrared imaging systems are compared with the predicted-NIIRS computed by GIQE. This allows an assessment on the general applicability of the GIQE.
