Afin d’atteindre leurs résultats à long terme en matière de biodiversité, les gouvernements fédéral, provinciaux et territoriaux ont développé les nouveaux buts et objectifs à moyen terme suivants. Ces buts et ces objectifs non-contraignants décrivent les résultats à atteindre grâce aux efforts collectifs d’une variété d’intervenants tant publics que privés dont les actions et les décisions ont un impact sur la biodiversité. Les gouvernements doivent faire leur part mais ils ne peuvent agir seuls.
