COSEWIC assessment and status report on the Louisiana waterthrush, Parkesia motacilla, in Canada .: CW69-14/17-2016E-PDF

"Since this species was last assessed by COSEWIC in 2006, new information on the distribution and abundance is available as a result of targeted surveys in southwestern Quebec and southern Ontario, as well as the completion of 5 years of fieldwork for the second Québec Breeding Bird Atlas. In addition, information on nesting productivity and parasitism rates in Canada is available as a result of nest monitoring efforts in southwestern Ontario. Some information on site fidelity, site turnover, and return rates in Ontario is also available as a result of a 4-year colour-banding project. New and emerging threats on the breeding grounds are impacting breeding habitat in the northern United States range, which is considered an essential source of immigrants to sustain the small Canadian population. New forest pest species are also expected to affect forest habitat in the Canadian breeding range in the near future. Other threats to the population in southern Ontario are continuing”--Preface (p. x).
