Selected police administration characteristics of municipal police departments = Certaines caractéristiques de l'administration policière dans les corps policiers.: CS85F0016-PDF
Data collected from the annual Police Administration Statistics Survey conducted by the Canadian Centre for Justice Statistics (CCJS) provided the raw data for this report. Although the survey collects information from all police forces in Canada, this report contains summary information on Canada's municipal police forces which employ 63% of all police officers in Canada and provide policing services to 21.4 million Canadians (73% of the Canadian population). The definition of municipal policing includes policing provided by other police forces to municipalities such as the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC), the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). The report is organized by province. Within each province, municipal police forces are grouped by one of nine population ranges and the municipalities within each group are listed alphabetically. For each municipal police force, a summary of population, personnel and expenditures are presented along with personnel and expenditure ratios.
