"The United Nations Conference on Environment and Development will be held in Brazil, opening on World Environment Day - June 5, 1992. It will be the first UN conference covering the entire sweep of environmental issues since the 1972 Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. One of its objectives will be to review the current state of the environment and the changes that have occurred since Stockholm. This book presents and overview of the main issues that will face the international decision makers at the conference: environment and development, protecting the atmosphere and the oceans, waste management, land resources, biological diversity, fresh water resources and biotechnology."
