Report of activities for teleseismic study of Banks Island on the western Arctic margin of the Northwest Territories : GEM 2 Western Arctic Margin Project / [by] D.B. Snyder.M183-2/7691E-PDF

This open file report summarizes current understanding of crustal thickness and structure along the western Arctic margin of Canada. The analysis of existing data is inconclusive because of the unusually thin crust(15-24 km)indicated in several locations. The report also describes 2014 repositioning of one teleseismic station in order to increase statistical robustness of results for Banks Island. Crustal and mantle thickness provide important constraints on the geological history with respect to thermal maturation of petroleum source rocks and diamond preservation, respectively.
