Principal mineral areas of Canada .: M48-900A-2014E-PDF

This map (at a scale of 1:6 000 000) is produced and published annually by Natural Resources Canada. It contains a variety of statistics on Canada’s mineral production, and provides the geographic locations of significant metallic, nonmetallic and industrial mineral mines, oil sands mines, and gas fields for the provinces and territories of Canada. Also contained within this map is information on existing and proposed oil and gas pipelines. A mine index is provided that lists, for each mine identified on the map, information on company ownership, the name of the mine, its type and location, and principal minerals and metals produced. A similar index (without company names due to a shortage of space) is provided for each oil and gas field. Three inset maps of the country detail the geographic locations of selected metallurgical works, and current and expected mine openings and closings. Mineral production statistics have also been incorporated in a number of tables and charts on the map.
