The recommended practices contained in this Manual, developed within the framework of standards and guidelines prescribed by the Office of the Fire Commissioner of Canada, have been published to assist Directors to ensure there is an operational capability within the Correctional Service of Canada to meet the stated objectives. Awareness of the fire safety problem and the responsible application of these standards by all personnel will enable the Service to meet the objectives successfully.
