| 520 | |aThis report presents a plan for standardization and manoeuvring/controllability trials for HMCS CALGARY which has recently completed its midlife modernization as part of the Halifax class Modernization (HCM)/Frigate Life Extension (FELEX) program. Existing data for standardization and manoeuvring/controllability for the HALIFAX Class frigates is from a trial in 1991 on HMCS HALIFAX when the ships were newly built. This data is somewhat limited due to a number of technical problems encountered during the trial at that time. The ships now operate at a deeper displacement and have undergone a number of appendage changes. In addition to documenting the performance of the ships post HCM/FELEX refit, which is of primary concern to operators, the results of the trial will provide more complete and up-to-date information for ship simulators and research & operations modeling. |
